Student Homework Journal - A Letter to the Parents…
Students will have homework that will be going home with them every night, Monday- Thursday. Homework will be placed in their binders. Math homework will be sent home every night based on what we learned that day in class. The math homework should be returned to school completed the next morning. Your child will also have spelling assignments they will need to study each week. (Please look under the TAB that says Letterland for parent information.) The students will get the word list on Monday and the test will be on Friday. Their nightly spelling tasks will be on the bottom of their word list.
Your child should be reading at least 20 minutes a Night-(Books, Raz-Kids online, Tumblebooks-Public Library online, etc.). Raz-Kids will send me a reading log every week. Writing and Comprehension assignments will go home occasionally. This will be sent home on Mondays and returned on Friday. Homework will evolve as students progress.
When there is no math homework in the binder, then students should use IXL or Dreambox. Students should be reading on Raz-Kids nightly.
No homework will be given on the weekend. We understand that children need time with families for family activities. Being a late school, we do not want students to miss out on extracurricular activities and family time. Since we are a STEM school, I want the majority of our homework to be interactive and online. We are going GREEN! Though there will be paper homework, many of our practice activities can be done online.
The following apps/websites will be our homework tasks when paper homework is not presented. These sites are differentiated and tailored for each individual student in my class. More options coming soon!
In lieu of a Reading Log, Raz-Kids will keep track of your nightly reading activities.
